FAQ

Artifacts

  • Overview
Artifacts impact different attributes for your Units and Sector. Fight enemies, capture and control Warp Gates, Pits, Marauder Bays or ISS to acquire new Artifacts. Build an Artifact Facility to store and use the Artifacts you find. Construct the Industrial Syndicate to locate and capture different Artifact sites throughout the Map.

You can sell Artifacts that you don't want to use for Resources. Go to the Artifact Facility, select an Artifact you would like to sell, and click the "Sell" button. Note that you cannot sell a temporary Artifact that has been activated.
  • Effects
Artifacts can do several different things. Some offer Offensive bonuses, while others improve the Defensive attributes of various units. Other Artifacts mainly improve the Industrial performance characteristics for your entire Sector (resource production, Defense bonuses, etc.).

To use an Artifact, place it into any open Activation slot on the Activation Board at your Artifact Facility. You have 6 Activation Slots in total, and can use no more than two Artifacts of the same category simultaneously. For example: 2 Offensive artifacts, 2 Defensive, 2 Industrial.
  • Duration
Artifacts can be Permanent or Temporary. Build Artifact Facility to use Permanent Artifacts. You can drag activated Permanent Artifacts back to Repository at any moment. Temporary Artifacts are consumable items and are active for fixed period of time. You can't move activated Temporary Artifacts back to Repository. If you are going to change one Temporary Artifact to other one, the previous Temporary Artifact will be deleted.
  • Power
Depending on Artifacts' power there are Basic, Compound and Legendary Artifacts. Basic Artifacts possess little but stable effect. Compound Artifacts have both strong positive and negative effects. Legendary Artifacts are extremely rare and powerful and are the hardest to find in the Wasteland.
  • Quality
Depending on the strength and characteristics of a given Artifact, it can be classified as either Serial, Special, Elite or Unique - in order of potency. Each of these categories include more commonly found items and a few highly sought after rare items. These have stronger positive attributes, but at the same time are much harder to find.
  • Artifacts as a Prize of War
Fighting with other Sectors, Deposits, or Artifact Sites is one way to acquire new Artifacts. Your Combat Advisor will brief you following each Battle. If there is a blue highlight exclamation point next to the report instead of the normal red one, it means you have claimed a new Artifact!

Open the report and read the description of your prize in the top window. You have a chance to claim and Artifact regardless of the outcome of an engagement. Remember: In order to keep your new Artifact you must go to your Artifact Facility and either use it immediately, or move in to your Repository or it will disappear in 48 hours - you can go there directly from the Combat Advisor's report.
  • Artifacts at Sites
Warp Gates, Marauder Bays, Pits, and ISS are all sites where you can find Artifacts on the Map. They essentially function like a normal Deposit. Capture one of them and control it for at least 1 hour to begin trying to salvage Artifacts. After the first hour, you can try to detect an Artifact by clicking the 'Search' button.

The longer you occupy an Artifact Site, the higher your chances of successfully detecting an Artifact for each attempt. You are allowed one detecting attempt per hour. Once you've successfully detected an Artifact, you will receive a report from your Trade Advisor. Remember: In order to keep your new Artifact you must go to your Artifact Facility and either use it immediately, or move in to your Repository or it will disappear in 48 hours - you can go there directly from the Trade Advisor's report.
  • Artifacts at Sites
There are 4 types of sites where Artifacts are hidden: Warp Gates, Marauder Bays, Pits, and ISS. Think of them as Deposits that produce Artifacts. The type of site determines the kind of Artifact you may find there. (Serial, Special, Elite or Unique) Keep in mind that each site functions for a fixed period of time - just like regular Deposits.

Go to the Command Center, Radar or use the Artifact Site menu on the Map to see the time remaining before the Artifact Site expires. Every new Artifact Site that appears on the Map is unguarded until occupied.
  • Artifact Sites Menu
Use the Artifact Site menu on the Map to see the time remaining before the Artifact Site expires, type of Artifacts it produces, its status (invaded or vacant) and chose the type of action you wish.
  • Reconning Artifact Sites
You will need to build the Industrial Syndicate and Air Field in your Sector to begin Reconning Artifact Sites. Select Recon from the Artifact Site menu on the Map, then select the number of Recon Drones you wish to send. If you recon the Site successfully you will to detect all occupying enemy units, including any of the Enemy's allied reinforcement. Once you have occupied a Site, remember to reinforce it with as many Recon Drones as possible to raise its Intelligence Defense Bonus.
  • Capturing Artifact Sites
You must build the Industrial Syndicate before you can capture your first Artifact Site. Select Capture from the Artifact Site menu on the Map and assemble a force strong enough to capture it. Once you've captured the Site go to your Command Center, and open the 'Deposits' tab to view its attributes. Starting immediately from when you Capture the site, you'll notice a progress bar indicating the amount of time you have maintained control of this Site.

You must maintain control for at least one hour before you can begin attempting to salvage Artifacts. The longer you maintain control, the higher the probability of successfully recovering an Artifact for each attempt. You are only permitted one attempt per hour - and be patient, you may not immediately find the Artifact you were searching for.

Every time a Site is captured, the one hour waiting period and occupation progress bar is reset - but the time remaining until the Site expires remains in effect. Ex: If you were to Capture a Site 4 days into its 7 day lifetime, you would still have only 3 days remaining in which to exploit it.

Remember to Send Defensive Troops to recently captured Sites to make ensure that they remain under your control. Remember: just like Deposits, you can attack Sites currently occupied by your Allies. This an extremely effective way of terminating Alliances.
  • Reinforcing Artifact Sites
Research Artificial Intelligence technology and build a Command Center to begin receiving Reinforcements sent by other players. Select this action from the Artifact Site Menu, assemble your Reinforcements and send them to the Site you wish to Reinforce. You don't gain access to Artifacts found at Allied occupied sites just because to have Reinforcements garrisoned there.

To review Reinforcements other players have sent you, go to your Command Center, open the 'Deposits' tab and click the green arrow. You will see the location of all Friendly Reinforcements in the drop down menu. To control the reinforcements you have sent to other players, go to the Command Center, open the 'Garrisons' tab and select the 'Deposits' filter.
  • Artifact Facility
You must build an Artifact Facility to use and store Artifacts. All Artifacts you gain are stored in Quarantine for 48 hours before being automatically deleted. To save an Artifact, drag it from Quarantine to the Artifact Repository. Invite Friends or use Crystals to open up extra slots at Artifact Repository and increase your Artifact storage capacity. To view an Artifact's attributes, simply place your cursor over it. To use any Temporary or Permanent Artifact, place it into any open Activation Slot on the Activation Board and click 'Activate'. Temporary Artifacts can only be activated once. After activation, they can't be moved back to your Artifact Repository! You can view information about currently activated Artifacts from the Activation Board's Stats Window.

If you click 'Search' you there is a chance that you may not find the Artifact you need, or even any Artifact at all. Control your Artifact Site as long as possible. The longer you maintain control, the higher your chances of finding an Artifact on each attempt.
